Events have been organised by the Parish Council over 2 days to bring our community together to remember all those who crossed the channel to take part in the Normandy landings on 6 June 1944.


On Thursday 6 June the Beacon lighting will take place on the green at the top of Portland Place. 

Please gather from 8.30pm to hear readings including The International Tribute before the beacon is lit at 9.00pm.

This event will finish at 10.00pm.


From 12 noon to 4.00pm on Saturday 8 June join in a Family Party at the Village Hall.  Bring a picnic and enjoy a relaxed afternoon with family and friends. Events on the day include: –

  • Brass Band
  • Tombola
  • Carnival Stalls
  • Refreshments
  • Ice Cream
  • Play Park and Games Area


On Saturday night from 6.30pm to 11.00pm there will be a Party Night in the Village Hall with live music from LPP Events, singing songs from the 1940’s through to the present day. Other entertainment is also planned, with Jamaican street food from Devon’s Kitchen and a fully licensed bar.

Tickets for this event are priced at £15.00 per person in advance to include entry and food and can be obtained by emailing tickets@suttonvillagehall.net or by calling (01777) 854392 with your contact details and the number of tickets you require. Please also advise us of any dietary requirements you may have.
